Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper invested their New Year's Eve live from New York City's Times Square for the 6th year as co-hosts. This year was a little various.
For the very first time, Cohen and Cooper's broadcast didn't consist of any on-camera drinking by reporters. The modification follows in 2015's program when Cohen made a remark about the band Journey and Ryan Seacrest that he declares was " exaggerated"
The Watch What Happens Live host, who had actually been consuming with Cooper on air throughout their New Year's Eve program, saw that band Journey was carrying out on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve without their previous frontman Steve Perry. He described the program's visitors as a "group of losers" and stated that anybody viewing ABC that night had actually "seen absolutely nothing."
As an outcome, Cohen and Cooper weren't permitted to consume alcohol up until after midnight when Brian Cox brought them a bottle of champagne. Rather of alcohol, they had secret chance ats the top of every hour of things like apple cider vinegar, buttermilk and pickle juice.
After apparently not taking pleasure in the shot of apple cider vinegar and still reeling from the buttermilk, Cohen blurted out, "I require tequila!"
But the sober night didn't go undetected by a few of the program's visitors like John Stamos, Kevin Hart and Amy Sedaris.
Early in the four-hour broadcast, Sedaris asked the hosts what they were on if they weren't drinking throughout the program, then continued to note off silly-sounding drug names like "reindeer dust," "scorpion seed," "thunder clap" and "apple jack diablo powder."
"Are these all the hot compounds?" Cooper asked Sedaris. "It's hot things," she responded, including, "Did you snort it? Did you chew it? Dilute it in water and consume it? Did you rub everything over each other's personal parts?"
Up next was Stamos, who appeared by means of video in a tux with his other half and their child from their house. When Cohen asked him about what it resembled when he hosted Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Ev e with Heather Locklear in 1988, Stamos confessed he didn't keep in mind much due to the fact that they were consuming "unlike you people."
"I'm delighted you're not drinking. I have not had a beverage in 7 and a half years," the star continued. "But you're funnier when you consume."
Later at night, Cohen and Cooper kicked things over to Hart, who was live from Las Vegas, where he was set to perform his stand-up unique Reality Check: New Year's Eve Experience From the beginning, Hart revealed that he was dissatisfied the guys were sober throughout their program this year.
"Imma do what you can't," the comic informed the hosts. "Imma conjecture due to the fact that you people have actually been scammed. I can't think you. I can't think CNN informing you men not to go and let go in such a great, real style. That's ideal television."
Hart continued, with parts of it bleeped out by the network, "I can't think they pulled this shit on you men. That's right, CNN, I stated shit. I stated horseshit. I stated bullshit. I stated all of it. I'm pissed. I'm pissed you got these 2 people sober up here today. Here's a shot for what you're expected to do-- from me to you men."
He ended on a more major and favorable note, stating that terrific tv is made by fantastic individuals being themselves.
"You can not take the vices or the dope things away that make them who they are," Hart stated. "You people are who you are. You shined on this platform since they enabled you to be you. Do not take that method. You commemorate that, and you toast to that, and you magnify it. That's what excellent television is. That's why great television works."
